The Swammi will head the newly formed MWS Online |
With
plans in the making for over two months now, The Swammi has
finally unveiled to the Madden community plans to head the
newly formed MWS Online division of the MWS. The primary goal
of the MWS Online will be to create standardize game play
for alll MWS leagues, as it does for MWS national and regional
tournaments. The Swammi announced commitments
from the MNL (Quick 6/Afro), The HMFL (Houston), the PFL,
and Gametime Philly to become a part of the new super MWS.
The MWS itself will not be a league, but more of a governing
body of the sub-leagues underneath its umbrella. At the seasons
end, each league will send its top players to compete in a
32 man Super Tournament, to determine who is the best in the
world.
"We
are currently assembling our online team for the competition
committee, stats department, and other important areas that
will need to be addressed," the Swammi stated. "Obviously
there are more details to be worked out, but for the most
part, the foundation and direction of the league is in place."
The
MWS will sponsor two pre season events in August. Before the
game drops in early August, the league will sponsor the MWS
Draft Lottery Week. Each league will have a specific night
to conduct their own draft lottery to determine selection
order to their respective league's online draft. The lottery
will be filmed and presented as a quick time file to be viewed
on the Internet to guarantee its authenticity.
After
the 2002 game ships, ballers can expect to have one to two
weeks to review the teams prior to MWS Draft Week.
Each respective MWS league will select a league night to conducts
is draft. The drafts will be held live on Internet via webcast/MWS
chatroom. Picks will be sent into the Swammi via Email/IM
or chat, and the draft choices will be read over the Internet
LIVE. The draft will be conducted similar to the NFL, with
each selection having a required time limit before selections
must be submitted.
Once
team selections have been confirmed, league play will begin
following the NFL 2002 schedule.
We
have so many more details to come, because obviously we are
in the early stages of planning," the Swammi noted. Stay
