RZA Jetless At 28? Everyone that really knows Red Rza knows that he is a true NY Jets fan. Just like Philly Guy, Rza is the kind of baller that likes to stay true to his team when it comes to league play. But at 28, chances are very slim if not nill that the Jets would slide to 28. With Philly Guy holding the 14th pick in the draft, unless Rza moves up, he could probably kiss the Jets goodbye. Rza's only hope is to trade up ahead of Philly to snag the Jets. But who in their right mind would trade down to 28 from 13 or above? Maybe someone who is coveting a lesser team that may be available at 28? Maybe a Wayne Allen?
It's no secret that Allen is looking to take the Niners at #9. However, Allen is in excellent bargaining position. Its realistic to think that the Niners will go no higher than 29. According to the EA rankings, only San Diego, Cleveland and Arizona are worst. And Allen has indicated he is listening to offers to trade down because he feels pretty confident the Niners will be there. If the 6 year MWS veteran does not pull off a trade, It is very much possible Rza could end up with a decent selection staying at 28. Consider as stated before that the Browns, Cards, and Chargers are the 3 lowest rated teams on the game. The Niners (4th lowest) will be gone. The Bears (5th) Texans (6th) and Giants (7th) all follow. The Giants and Texas are surely to go in the high 20's particularly because of the Shockey factor and the Texans WR corp and defense. Many scouts have indicated that perhaps the Texans could be the steal of the draft if they slip past 25. That leaves Rza with possibly the Bears or Saints, which are both solid and legitimate contenders in their division in the hands of a skilled baller. Depending on who takes the other teams in the respective division, they could be in for a dog fight facing Rza twice a season. Another factor that works in Rza's favor is that when you draft that low, you can choose what division you would like to enter. And you can expect the MWS veteran to choose the division that he feels he could best compete in based on his teams strengths. Yes, Rza may miss out on his favorite team he doesn't move up. That might be a bad thing initially, but depending on where the chips fall.....it could be good thing. Can't wait until Tuesday!
