Swam's AFC East Preview

The AFC East features four coaches that are not strangers to the PFL Online, or the MWS. Teddy B! who selected the Bills at 25, is back for his third PFL Online season. In addition Brown, the current PFL commissioner is one of only 3 ballers to have attended all 6 Nationals. B.B. is back for his third PFL Online as well, looking to earn his second consecutive division championship. Red Zone Money is back for a second season, with a renewed enthusiasm for the 2004 season. Last year Red Zone suffered with the hapless Cardinals. Now, he has arguably the best team on the game in the Pats. And rounding out the division is Philly Guy, who is back with his Jets for a second season, and looking to improve his 11-5 wildcard performance from last season. When you look at this division it seems tough on paper. The Bills, Fins, Pats, and Jets make this one of the tougher divisions in the league based on team rankings.

Buffalo Bills - Teddy B!
Teddy B! should be able to asses his game right off the bat when he faces Adjuster, Boza and then Red Zone Money in his first three games. While all three are formidable opponents, it is not unthinkable that Brown could open 3-0 if he is playing to his capabilities. For Brown, it is a matter of getting used to the Bills personnel, and working his scheme with the team that took Brown to the PFL Superbowl in 2000. Since then Brown has been playing the Chargers. So this will be like breaking new ground for the PFL commissioner. The Bills bring a lot to the table in the form of good QB play, a solid 1-2 punch in the ground game. Excellent receivers, and a solid defense makes the Bills a contender on paper. What happens during the season may be another story. The divisional games in itself will be a battle for Teddy B! Throw in Donnie B!, Un7oucable and Lou Tillery, and you can understand how important it will be for Brown to post a good division record. If Brown can get in the lab and play to his capabilities, he contends for a wildcard. If not, the Bills we be in the cellar of the AFC East.

Miami Dolphins - B.B.
Fresh off winning the NFC East division last season, B.B. comes into season #3 feeling great about his team, and his chances to lock down the east. After all, it was Bond who knocked then defending PFL Champion John B! out of the playoffs last season before bowing out to eventual champion Lou Tillery. Bond is a solid player without question, but he has lacked consistency needed to elevate himself into the class of the elite ballers. For as impressive as it was for Bond to knock off the defending champion last season, it was equally as mind boggling for him to basically go 6-0 in a rather weak division, and get two wins by default and post an 8-8 record to win the division. Many counted Bond out against John B because of the unimpressive regular season record. But what does Bond do? The unthinkable and dethrones the champ. This type of inconsistency will surely cost Bond a shot at the playoffs in a tougher division than he faced last season. Therefore, the Fins will go as far as a consistent B.B. can take them. The division schedule will be a challenge. Opening up against Chuggy will be an excellent gauge as well. Tough games outside the division include: Un7ouchable, Donnie B, & Lou Tillery.

New England Patriots - Red Zone
For Red Zone to contend this season, his name has to be his game. The Pats will need to be efficient in the Red Zone. The Pats table is set, to where you just have to touch the sticks and get love. And after playing with the miserable Cardinals last season, Red Zone gets to test his game with a team that won't present a ton of obstacles. And though the Pats defense is a game high 99, it doesn't mean a thing if Red Zone doesn't have them in the right places to make plays. Opening up with Jay Kearney and Donnie B won't be a vacation by no stretch of the imagination. However, the Bills and Dolphins are next on the schedule after the bye week, and should be two measuring stick games for Red to see where his game is early. All three ballers (Brown, Red Zone & B.B.) are coming off sub par seasons, despite B.B. going to the playoffs with an 8-8 record. Key out of division games: Un7ouchable, Lou Tillery, & Baby Boy Blitz.

New York Jets - Philly Guy
This east is the Jet's division to lose. And Philly Guy couldn't be sitting prettier ...getting the team he coveted, having one of the softer schedules in the league, and in a division where no one really stands head and shoulders above another. Philly Guy posted an 11-5 record last season, good enough for a wildcard spot, finishing second in the division to Jay Kearney. With Kearney out of the east, Philly Guy takes top billing, and should win this one hands down. Key games outside the division: Lou Tillery, Donnie B, Jdub, Un7ouchable.

Swam's predictions: I like Philly Guy to get out to a fast start, catch a mid season lull, but pull it back together to lock down the division. Look for the Jets to play it tight and close to vest. B.B. won't be a push over, and Red Zone Money will it tough with the Pats. But I don't think neither will be able to overtake the Jets who have too many things going for them. Too many question marks for Teddy B....
